Why this term exists
An inventory tells us what is present. Coherent coupling names what those factors can do through an ordered relation, so that the capacity of the relation is not misattributed to one person, tool or component in isolation.
Definition in the system
Coherent coupling is an ordered relation between two or more distinguishable factors whose roles, boundaries, transfers and process flow are sufficiently aligned with a real need for the relation to perform a function that no factor can perform alone or through mere aggregation.
The factors need not be equal, conscious or unchanged. They may change or be consumed during the process, but their functions must remain sufficiently distinguishable and the process sufficiently regulated to preserve the coherence required until functional completion.
Formal notation
A ⊗ B → K denotes coherent coupling: the ordered relation between A and B opens an operational capacity K.
K is not a property of A or B in isolation; K belongs to A ⊗ B as a relation.
Within MonkOS notation, ⊗ denotes neither addition, multiplication nor fusion of identities. It is the operator of coherent coupling.
Canonical boundary
Proximity, simultaneity, dependence, domination, fusion of identities or short-lived amplification are not coherent coupling by themselves. A coupling is coherent when it answers a real need or function, preserves distinguishable roles and boundaries, regulates the transfer of energy, information or action, opens a capacity unavailable to the factors in isolation, and holds the required coherence until the process reaches functional completion.
Example: human and fire
The human supplies need, choice, action and regulation. Fire supplies the thermal process. The vessel sets a boundary. Time and Takt carry the transformation. Feedback adjusts the effect. None of these factors cooks alone; the capacity to cook belongs to their coherent coupling.
Fire can therefore act as a thermal processor that augments human action, just as AI can act as an informational processor. Neither fire nor AI is a condition of Bikaša or the source of human intention. They enter the coupling; the human retains direction, choice and responsibility.
Relation to the system
Relatio states that relation is primary. Coherent Coupling names its functional architecture. Takt and Tempo order its structure and speed; Tango is its coordinated performance; Capacity becomes available through it; Bikaša is the field in which need, available possibilities and total capacity can be brought into such a relation.
