A modeled local density of meaning derived from attention intensity, dwell time, area and salience factors.

Meaning density asks how much coherent attention is being integrated in a bounded region of a model.

Why this term exists

The framework needs a way to distinguish diffuse attention from locally concentrated, sustained and salient engagement without pretending that “meaning” is directly weighed like physical matter.

Definition in the system

Meaning Density is a formal modeling device. It combines an attention-power term with dwell time, normalized by an area or modeled region, then modulated by salience. The exact operationalization depends on the measurement domain.

The quantity is useful only when the inputs are defined and calibrated. It should not be treated as a universal sensor reading or as proof that meaning is a physical substance.

Integrated over a chosen area and time window, the model contributes to Meaning Mass.

Example

Two pages may receive the same total viewing time, but one may concentrate sustained attention on a small, highly salient section while the other disperses it broadly. The model is intended to distinguish those patterns.

What it is not

Meaning Density is not a literal physical density and is not automatically comparable across experiments that use different attention measures or normalizations.
